The latest from DTC Perspectives

Your Perspective Please

Friday, 02 October 2009, 08:20 AM

I have written 376 columns in the past 9 years giving my DTC perspective. I am now asking DTC marketers for their perspective in a short but important survey of plans, concerns, issues and attitudes towards DTC both from a business and personal perspective.

If you are a pharmaceutical marketer please link to the survey and complete as soon as possible. It will take about 10 minutes. To access the survey please click here.

Frankly we are at a critical point in the evolution of DTC. I am not sure whether we will be in a developing field or one that is decaying. Given the underlying issues in the health reform debates, it is hard to predict the future of all of us who make a living involved in DTC. Will DTC be made extinct with a sudden action from Congress? Will it be regulated slowly out of existence? Or, will it continue pretty much as is evolving with media shifts? While I am optimistic DTC will remain an important marketing function, I do not know what practitioners currently think about our future. So, I ask all DTC marketers to tell me when you get the online survey emailed to you.

We will share the results with the DTC community as soon as we get a sufficient enough response. We are also planning to start a blogtalkradio show where we can get some live opinions from the DTC community on a weekly basis. I hope this will help encourage a vigorous dialog between drug marketers, their agencies, and media and service suppliers. We will use your responses to alter our magazine content, conference agenda, and future service offerings. I will also use your responses to craft my answers to press inquiries about the future of DTC. I have become a source for main media stories and am happy to do it. Sometimes, however, I am not sure my opinion is accurate in reflecting what the majority of drug practitioners think.
