Tribune Company Puts Emphasis on Healthcare Content / Advertising
Tuesday, 05 January 2010, 11:53 AM
The Tribune Co. has named Geoffrey Melick as senior vice president of health in an effort to "aggressively pursue a larger share of the advertising and marketing dollars being spent on healthcare issues, products and services," reports The Chicago Tribune. Melick was hired specifically to run healthkey.com, the Tribune Co's Web site devoted to entirely to healthcare, according to the news report.
Melick comes to the Tribune Co. from Omincom's Corbett Accel Healthcare Group,
where he was an executive vice president. Previously, Melick worked at
Kinect Interactive Digital Communications. Earlier in his career,
Melick was a founding member of McCann Erickson's Interactive Group.
Randy Michaels, chief executive of The Tribune Co.
(parent company of the Chicago Tribune) said in a statement that he believes,
"spending related to healthcare ... is exploding, and our newspapers,
television stations and Web sites need to be getting an increasingly larger
share of it.”
